An Ontology-based Template of User-actor to Support Agent-based Simulation in Built Environments

چکیده
The behavior of a human being in a building, its activities, its interactions with it and with other people are certainly a highly complex phenomenon extremely hard to predict and evaluate. At the same time, the response of a built environment to future users‘ needs is one of the key factors of its performance. The Agent-based Modeling paradigm is considered potentially the best way to represent human behavior but, in the building design field, its experiences are limited to representation of partial aspects of human behavior in discrete events. Currently, a more "extended" representation of human behavior able to offer an overview of the human activities related to the building ̳functioning‘, is missing,. This lack is due to the complexity of interaction among users and built environment, and to the extensive knowledge, provided by different disciplines, needed to reliably represent it. The proposed research focuses on the construction of a general representation template of user-actor, easy to implement and flexible enough to structure the large amount of data affecting human behavior. The development of the ontology-based template shown in this paper can lead to a user-agent‘s entity whose parameters and behavioral rules can encode and represent several ̳aspects‘ of real users and their interactions with the other entities (building components, furniture, other people) in a built environment.

Simulating Human Behavior in (Un)Built Environments: Using an Actor Profiling Method
This paper addresses the shortcomings of architectural computation tools in representing human behavior in built environments, prior to construction and occupancy of those environments. Evaluating whether a design fits the needs of its future users is currently done solely post construction, or is based on the knowledge and intuition of the designer. This issue is of high importance when design...
متن کاملA Practical Dramaturgy for Actors through Theatrical Production Procedures
Dramaturgy, as a creative and critical act dependent on the theoretical and practical knowledge of theater, consists of two parts with Greek roots: Drama (action) and Ourgia (work and operation). Ourgia literally means to practice, act, and in other words process a raw material. Eugenio Barba divides Dramaturgy in to three parts: Actor Dramaturgy, Director Dramaturgy and Audience Dramaturgy. Th...
متن کاملAn Ontological Template-supported Interface Agent for FAQ Services
This paper describes an Interface Agent which works as an assistant between the users and FAQ systems. It integrates several interesting techniques including domain ontology, user modeling, and template-based linguistic processing to effectively tackle the problems associated with traditional FAQ retrieval systems. Our work features an ontology-supported, template-based user modeling technique ...
متن کاملA New Ontology-Based Approach for Human Activity Recognition from GPS Data
Mobile technologies have deployed a variety of Internet–based services via location based services. The adoption of these services by users has led to mammoth amounts of trajectory data. To use these services effectively, analysis of these kinds of data across different application domains is required in order to identify the activities that users might need to do in different places. Researche...
متن کاملAutomatic Interpretation of UltraCam Imagery by Combination of Support Vector Machine and Knowledge-based Systems
With the development of digital sensors, an increasing number of high-resolution images are available. Interpretation of these images is not possible manually, which necessitates seeking for practical, fast and automatic solutions to solve the environmental and location-based management problems. The land cover classification using high-resolution imagery is a difficult process because of the c...
